How to pick the PAWfect Name For Your New Puppy or Kitten

Oh my whiskers, you adopted a new furball! First off, CONGRATS! Having a new fur-baby to snuggle up with at home is just precious. But before those fuzzy cuddles can start, your new BFF needs a pawsome name!

When I’m helping clients come up with the purrfect name for their furry friend, I start by looking at their unique fur coloring or cute spots. Does your pooch have a silky chocolate coat? Hershey could be cute! Or maybe your new kitty reminds you of a baby cow with her patches? Moo-ve over Daisy! Don’t be shy about picking a creative name that matches their adorable looks.

Next, spend some quality snuggle time together to get a feel for their personality. An energetic, mischievous little rascal might suit a fun name like Jelly-bean. Meanwhile, a laidback gent who enjoys leisurely naps could be called Sleepy. Pick something that fits who they are!

Also consider picking a meaningful name after someone important like a beloved grandparent now in doggy heaven. Or maybe a name passed down in your family that gives you the warm fuzzies. Don’t be afraid to choose something heartfelt and personal.

Most importantly, make sure you ADORE yelling the name across the dog park. And that it won’t get confusing using basic training commands like sit and stay. Test a few names out loud – your pup’s perked up ears will tell you if it’s the one!
